Robots That Vacuum and Mop
Robots that mop and vacuum offer the convenience of cleaning dry debris (dust, dirt) and wet mess (spills and staining) in one go without the need to switch out devices. They also can save space in comparison to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot will be able to navigate well and have excellent obstacle avoidance. Find models that automatically empty their bin and refill their water tank, and wash their mopping pads from the dock that is specifically designed for them.
- Eufy S1 Pro
It's among the easiest robots to set up that we've ever tested. Unpacking is simple and the quick-start manual can get you running in no time with a full dust bag, water tank, and a hard floor solution.
The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and vacuum well. The mops are spun at a high speed and utilize 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to quickly get rid of pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum has four power modes, a range of brushes and attachments, and a user-friendly app that lets you choose the type of cleaning you'd like for each room.
You can, for example, ask the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly, but leave the bedroom in its own space. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors and smart navigation technology. It can detect small obstacles that other models are unable to. Its only minor issue is that it can crash into walls and objects at full speed. However, a quick glance at the cleaning history in the app tells you exactly what it's doing as well as where it's heading, and which obstacles it's avoided.
The docking station features an LCD display that indicates the time when maintenance is required for cleaning up debris and rinsing the dirty water tank. It's also able to mix detergent automatically into the water tank, with a 600ml bottle of eufy's own solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop come with plenty of running time and the mop is capable of operating for 184 minutes in Quiet mode and the vacuum able to do 136 minutes in normal mode before having to recharge or return to the base to replenish. The app is easy to use and intuitive, allowing you to look at every aspect of the cleaning.
- Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the latest version of the company's most popular robot mop and vacuum. The model this year has two agitators built into its mopping pad. This enhances the carpet cleaning capabilities of this model. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction power that allows it to remove finer hairs and other debris other robotic cleaners may miss.
The Roborock model, like the other two I tried, has infrared and reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology to help it avoid obstacles such as furniture, walls and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things one step further by adding a dual camera which can detect objects and determine whether they're an object that is a wall or a different surface. It then can alter its path in a way that is automatic and clean around them without missing a step.
This is the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed, however, it's also the most feature-packed. Its sleek angular design is eye catching and comes with three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which restarts the cleaning, a mop button that doubles as a child lock and a home-button that can send the robot to its dock. The hinged lid can be lifted to reveal the 350ml dust bin as well as a 200ml water tank. The water tank automatically empties and the bin fills up automatically.
The only drawback I could find to this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't removable. It is possible to change the mopping cloth if required, but it's a challenge to remove the mount for washing manually. I've observed that any carpet that the Robot vacuum mops touches will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener on mount, which can cause scratches.
The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart features that include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. The Roborock app lets you manage and set up these smart features. It also contains maps and advanced mopping options. The app allows you to plan cleanings and monitor the battery's life. You'll need to go through some hoops to activate voice control on this model. It's a shame, considering how well-performing it is otherwise.
- Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is an industry leader with its innovative features, top suction power and advanced mowing capabilities. Its clever design permits personalized and efficient cleaning, while reducing time.
The X40 robot vacuum cleaner is the first to feature 12,000 Pascals cleaning power. It is one of the most powerful alternatives available. This powerful vacuum cleans up dry mess, including pet hair and dust. It comes with a mop of high quality that cleans hard floors without the use of a pad. In addition the X40 is extremely quiet during its operation, with only occasional bursts of sound when switching between modes or performing self-maintenance tasks.
The X40 also has a side brush that is able to be extended and lifted. This allows it to reach into corners that are difficult to reach and clean furniture with curved edges like table and chair legs. It also allows the robot to access furniture that is low-profile making it an ideal option for apartments or condos with limited space. The side brush tilts automatically down when it spots wet spots. This is a nice feature that allows the X40 to avoid causing damage to floors through excessive back-and forth movements.
Contrary to other robots which solely focus on one task, the X40 can perform both vacuuming and mopping at the same time or in a series. It can be programmed to only mop the hard floors, and skip carpeted areas, and vice versa. It can be controlled through the Dreame app or by using Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for smooth voice-controlled operation.
The app is intuitive and simple to use and the X40's clever features are a breeze to set up. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, alter suction power and mode, view mapping and floor plans, and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also keep track of its progress and notify you when it's finished.
The X40 is easy to keep clean and has numerous features which make it a good option for busy families. Its docking station automatically empties the dustbin into a huge 3.2 L bin, washes the mop pads, then refills them with clean water and cleaning solution. It also can detect when the mop pad is full and alert you before it gets overflowing, reducing the need for manual maintenance.
- L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that is among the most expensive on the market and comes with a lot of additional features that distinguish it from. Smart DuoScrub, a new feature on its mop heads, makes use of two high-speed mop heads to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a suction force of 7,000Pa. This is higher than Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also remove pet hair, small dirt particles and remove spills and dirty spots.
The mops are also dried and cleaned inside the base station after every use. This is an excellent feature as it stops the growth of mould and unpleasant odours in the storage area, and it also makes the mop system a lot more efficient. This is a system we've yet to see on other robot vacuums and mop models, and it could be a useful method to keep your home cleaner for longer.
There are plenty of choices, including the possibility to schedule cleanings and change preferences. The app allows you to make these settings or make use of the buttons on the device itself. The app is easy to use and has a lot of options for customising the cleaning process, and there are a lot of features that other robots don't include, such as the Clean Genius mode that automatically boosts suction power when it detects dust particles, instead of using an individual setting.
The L20 Ultra has a stylish design that has a white-and-metallic look that looks elegant and sophisticated. It's heavier than some of the other two-in-1 robots on this list, at 4kg - but it's not obscenely heavy either, and it feels sturdy and well-built. Mopping is also well-designed, and the double rotating mops work well on hard floors and in corners. They can even reach down to 2mm of baseboards due to the MopExtend feature which is a nice addition.
